Why native plants?
Native plants are the species native to the region you are planting in. These plants are best adapted to your growing conditions and their bloom periods are synced with bees and other wildlife.
Some species of bees require specific plants to pollinate within their habitat. Some keystone plants for bees are: spring beauty, wild geranium, black eyed susan’s, and new england asters.
Butterflies and moths are also reliant on various families of plants. For instance, monarch butterflies require milkweed host plants. Eastern black swallowtails use Golden Alexander’s and so on. Without these host plants, you will not find caterpillars in your garden.
Native plants also support songbirds. During the summer months songbirds rely on the constant supply of insects to feed their developing young. In the fall they feed on seeds and berries as they prepare for winter.
Why me?
I specialize in small scale design, taking on the small projects large landscapers tend to pass on. I have a unique eye for detail and color combinations paired with a passion for providing quality habitat. With my background in conservation, I design gardens not just with native plants, but that whole heartedly support pollinators and wildlife. Providing quality habitat is more than just getting plants in the ground and I offer a well rounded design. My garden care services also keep pollinators in mind. I do not use pesticides or other chemicals, I do not offer raking as to avoid damaging and removing queen bees, caterpillars and more from the garden. I do everything with hand held tools so that I can be as noninvasive as possible when weeding to further protect your soil and beneficial insects.
Gardening with native plants is a strikingly beautiful way to support your local wildlife.
